The problem this solves
You photograph a product on a white sweep, and the result is a bright item with a grey blotch on the wall behind it. Marketplaces and brand guidelines want clean, evenly lit backdrops. Re-shooting costs a light stand. This tool fixes the photo you already have.
It is not a magic eraser and it is not a background replacer. It is a targeted lighting correction on the backdrop region, which is what 90% of product shadow problems actually are.
How to use it on a listing photo
- Upload the product shot. JPG or PNG, ideally the original rather than a screenshot.
- Raise Background shadow strength until the darkest part of the wall matches the brightest part.
- Add Wall evenness to remove any remaining soft gradient across the backdrop.
- Check the contact shadow. If the object now looks like it is floating, lower Shadow depth a little to keep the natural shadow under the item.
- Download. If the marketplace needs a pure white background, run the result through remove white background next.
Recommended starting settings
| Photo type | Background shadow strength | Wall evenness |
|---|---|---|
| Small object on a paper sweep | 65% | 45% |
| Apparel on a white wall | 75% | 60% |
| Furniture against a painted wall | 55% | 70% |
| Jewellery macro with hard shadow | 85% | 35% |
Combining it with the rest of the workflow
Most listing photos need more than one fix. A practical order that avoids re-doing work:
- Correct the background shadow on this page first — it is a global lighting change.
- Knock out the remaining white with remove white background to get transparency.
- Then drop the item on a new colour or scene background in your design tool.
- Finally resize to the exact marketplace spec with the image resizer.
